Saskatchewan invites 150 candidates to apply for Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand streams
Updated: Aug 30, 2019
One of the sunniest provinces of Canada, Saskatchewan, recently revealed the details of the draw that was held on 15th August through Saskatchewan Immigration Nominee Program (SINP). Today it is primarily the province’s rapidly-growing modern economy that attracts new immigrants to build their lives in Saskatchewan and the province is playing its role in welcoming new immigrants through regularly held draws. The SINP invited 150 candidates from Express Entry and Occupation in-demand to apply for Canada permanent residence visa. 45 candidates were invited under the Saskatchewan Express Entry Stream while 105 candidates were invited under the Occupation in-demand category.
The SINP uses a unique Expression of Interest (EOI) point grid to rank the candidates who have applied under Express Entry and Occupation in-demand registered stream. The minimum cut-off in the latest draw was the minimum EOI score of 78 points.
The candidates are awarded points out of 100 and use parameters like:
Skilled work experience
Language proficiency (English/French)
Connection to Saskatchewan
Candidates with the highest scores in both sub-categories are then given invitations through regularly held draws from the pool to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
Express Entry candidates
SINP’s Express Entry (EE) stream is in-line with the Federal government’s Express Entry Program which allows the province to search for the skilled immigrants in the express pool. The EE candidates who meet the requirements of SINP stream can get selected for the Saskatchewan provincial nomination.
An Express Entry candidate with a provincial nomination is awarded an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points. Most of the Express draws require CRS score of more than 400 points, the provincial nominee points of 600 make sure that the candidate can get the Invitation to Apply (ITA).
Occupation in-demand candidates
Under Occupation in-demand stream of SINP, it is not mandatory to have a job offer from Saskatchewan to apply. However, it is mandatory to have relevant work experience in any of the 19 in-demand occupations of the province.
The SINP has organized 2 draws so far this year. The previous draw conducted on 24th July has issued 381 invitations, which means the recent draw saw a decrease as compared to the previous one.
